The 2008 olympics are coming to end but it is not over as far as Chinese tourism is concerned. The chinese government has been planning a large attack on global tourism. All this promotion through the olympics has been an excellent way to show the world what China has to offer and now they are ready to open the doors to tourist investment.
“Its the expectation of most of the suppliers that all this visibility that China is getting is going to make Asia as a destination seem more knowable and more reachable that it has in the past” says John Riggin of Partner Concepts.
The chinese government has already ramped up tourism promotion by their efforts in outdoor events at the olympics. However research has shown that each country to host the olympics immediately falls into a slump of global visitors. Australia’s tourist totals have dropped an incredible three consecutive years after the 2000 games and suprisingly New Zealands tourism has increased.
Now that the olympics is coming to the UK I would expect the amount of tourism and revenue to be astronomical! A local london event company has claimed that they have been preparing for the rush of tourism for the last two years in order to accomodate for everyone as best they can.
