Cool Guide to Eccentric London
Former Suede bass-player Mat Osman is a busy man these days. Not only is he the editor of Le Cool London, a weekly email that lists all that is cool in the city, but he has also published one of the best and most eccentric guidebooks about the capital.
He describes the guidebook as “for people who love the city“. He goes on to say that it is for “People who love scooter shops that turn into coffee shops, and flats with aeroplane wings through them, and manga libraries, and doll’s house furniture shops, and bubble-and-squeak stalls, and hairdressers-cum-art galleries-cum-nightclubs, and rollergirls, and so on and so on …”
The book presents a fantastic wander through the streets of London town, highlighting unusual, weird and wonderful gems that you won’t find in many other guidebooks.
I can recommend this excellent book. I’ve just bought myself a copy. I’ve lived in London for years but this book has shown me all sorts of weird and wonderful places that I didn’t even know existed. British eccentricity at its best - highly recommended.
